Lean Management Tools

I think one of the things that lean creates in many places is an environment where everyone has fairly defined objectives and management that is engaged. It’s not that I think that most people are lazy, I just think that most people have a certain desire to be lead and to be told what they should do.

That is what leadership is, and even with these visual management charts (minus the little gold star stickers of yesteryear), I think management needs to continually take the reins and motivate workers to complete their tasks. People need feedback, to make sure they’re on the right track.

I really like the photos Wrye posted, and they will certainly help get things on track ,but only with the active participation of management in gemba.

Bill Everson has been involved in lean systems in the manufacturing industry for nearly 12 years. He writes this blog to give advice and offer lean solutions to industrial and efficiency problems.
